Five new species of Pityophthorus EICHHOFF, 1864 (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Scolytinae: Corthylini: Pityophthorina) are described from Peru: P. donbrighti, P. invisibilis, P. maslovi, P. tishechkini and P. vilcabambensis.

Four new species of Zygops SCHÖNHERR, 1825 (Coleoptera: Curculionidae: Conoderinae), Zygops cylindricornis sp.n., Z. dilaticollis sp.n., Z. latitibia sp.n., and Z. microgriseus sp.n., are described from French Guiana. Zygops pistor BOHEMAN, 1838 and Z. scenicus GYLLENHAL, 1838 are recorded from French Guiana for the first time; Z. wiedii (GERMAR, 1824) was erroneously listed for this country before. Zygops disjunctus BOHEMAN, 1838 syn.n. is synonymized with Z. wiedii, and Z. stigmaticus BOHEMAN, 1845 syn.n. is synonymized with Z. tridentatus GYLLENHAL, 1838. All species of Zygops occurring in French Guiana are illustrated, and a key for the identification of the species is presented.

Pseudochelidonium olemehli sp.n. (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae: Cerambycinae) is described from Indonesia (Sumatra).

Faunistic data of ten rare or little known species from Austria are provided. Clypastraea orientalis (REITTER) (Corylophidae), Tanymecus dilaticollis (GYLLENHAL) and Otiorhynchus albidus STIERLIN (Curculionidae) are recorded from Austria for the first time. New provincial records: Curculionidae: Tanysphyrus lemnae (PAYKULL) (Kärnten, Wien), Dytiscidae: Acilius canaliculatus (NICOLAI) (Kärnten), Elmidae: Macronychus quadrituberculatus MÜLLER (Wien), Hydraenidae: Hydraena intermedia ROSENHAUER (Steiermark), Latridiidae: Corticaria alleni JOHNSON (Wien).

A new species of the Agabus uliginosus group, A. lotti, is described from Italy, Austria, Czech Re- public, Slovakia, and Hungary.

The Palearctic, Oriental, Australian and Pacific species of the Hydaticus (Prodaticus) sexguttatus species group (Coleoptera, Dytiscidae) are revised. Fourteen species including five new ones (H. balkei sp.n., H. hajeki sp.n., H. hendrichi sp.n., H. marlenae sp.n. and H. stastnyi sp.n.) are des- cribed. Five species of the H. fabricii group including one new species and one new subspecies (H. agaboides SHARP, 1882, H. ephippiiger RÉGIMBART, 1899, H. larsoni sp.n., H. pulcher CLARK, 1863, H. sellatus sabahensis ssp.n. and H. sellatus sellatus RÉGIMBART, 1883) are also treated herein, because their elytral marks or their male genitalia are similar to those of some species of the H. sexguttatus group. Lectotypes are designated for H. bengalensis RÉGIMBART, 1899, H. ephippiiger RÉGIMBART, 1899, H.fractifer WALKER, 1858, H. laetabilis RÉGIMBART, 1899, H. macularis RÉGIMBART, 1899, H. nigritulus RÉGIMBART, 1899, H. reductus RÉGIMBART, 1899, H. rhantaticoides RÉGIMBART, 1892, H. schultzei ZIMMERMANN, 1924, H. sellatus RÉGIMBART, 1883, and H. sexguttatus RÉGIMBART, 1899. New synonymies: H. finus WATTS, 1978 (= H. ephippiiger RÉGIMBART, 1899), H. reductus RÉGIMBART, 1899 (= H. platteeuwi SEVERIN, 1890), H. schultzei ZIMMERMANN, 1924 (= H. macularis RÉGIMBART, 1899), H. wattsi DAUSSIN, 1980 (= H. rhantaticoides RÉGIMBART, 1892). A key to the species of the H. sexguttatus group of the Palearctic, Oriental, Australian and Pacific Regions and resembling species of the H. fabricii group is provided. The known distribution of each species is outlined. Important diagnostic characters are illustrated.

Peschetius taprobanicus sp.n. (Coleoptera: Dytiscidae) is described on the basis of six specimens collected from Sri Lanka. Distinguishing characters are given for the new species.

Hydroporus incommodus FERY, 2006 (Coleoptera: Dytiscidae), so far known only from Slovakia, is here recorded from Austria for the first time. Its habitat is described and measurements for its conservation are proposed. The possible occurrence of other cryptic or unknown Hydroporus species in Austria is discussed briefly.

Ochthebius marijanmatoki (Coleoptera: Hydraenidae) is described from Greece (Evia Island). It is a member of the O. metallescens species group, and seems closely related with O. pretneri JÄCH, 1999 from Montenegro.

Sebasthetops altimontanus sp.n. is described from the Cederberg and Groote Winterhoek mountains in the Western Cape Province of South Africa, the second member of this phylogenetically isolated Afrotemperate hydraenid lineage. Like S. omaliniformis JÄCH, 1998, S. altimontanus appears to be a high altitude specialist of cold water, only known to date from above 1,000 m in two mountain stream sites. In light of this discovery, and the presence of female specimens of the genus from the Lange- berg, it is suggested that additional species of Sebasthetops may remain undiscovered in high altitude areas of the Cape Fold Mountains.

A recent field trip to the Greek island Samos yielded 1322 specimens belonging to at least 117 species of Staphylinidae. Three species are described and illustrated: Geostiba (Tropogastrosipalia) plici- pennis sp.n. (Oros Ambelos) and Oxypoda (Bessopora) kerkisica sp.n. (Oros Kerkis) of the Aleochar- inae, and Sunius ambelosicus sp.n. (Oros Ambelos) of the Paederinae. Geostiba plicipennis is the first representative of the speciose subgenus Tropogastrosipalia SCHEERPELTZ, 1951 to be recorded from an island. Including the Pselaphinae and Scydmaeninae collected by Volker Brachat and Heinrich Meybohm in 2003, as well as previous literature records, at least 136 species of Staphylinidae are currently known from Samos, 103 of them named and positively identified, 15 undescribed (five of the Pselaphinae and ten of the Scydmaeninae), eight tentatively identified, and at least ten unidentified. Six species are reported from Greece for the first time. The remarkably diverse staphylinid fauna of Samos includes as many as 18 species that have been recorded exclusively from this island and are most likely island-endemic, some of them even locally endemic. However, only seven of these species have been named; the remainder is pending description. Xantholinus chiosicus ASSING, 2015, a species previously hypothesized to be endemic to Chios, is recorded also from Samos. The diversity of the staphylinid fauna of Samos is evidently greater than that of other North Aegean islands; it appears to be even greater than that of the much larger island Rhodes, an observation that may be explained with the geography, geology, and ecological characteristics of Samos. A comprehensive list of the named and unnamed species currently known from Samos is provided.

Four new species of Paederus Fabricius, 1777 (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae) are described from Nat- ma-taung National Park, Chin State, Myanmar: Paederus goellnerae WILLERS sp.n., P. hiekei WILLERS & SCHILLHAMMER sp.n., P. natmataungensis WILLERS & SCHILLHAMMER sp.n., P. schill- hammeri WILLERS sp.n. All four species belong to a lineage that might be endemic to the Chin Hills. The aedeagi of all species represented by males are illustrated, as well as other important diagnostic body details. Habitus photographs of all species are provided.

Two new species of Paederinae (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae), Gnathymenus bellavistae sp.n. from western Ecuador and Oedichirus schubarti sp.n. from southeastern Brazil are described. New records of G. klimai (BERNHAUER, 1927) and G. fiscus HERMAN, 1981 are given.

The subgenus Hemihesperosoma HAYASHI, 2002 (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Staphylininae), pre- viously treated as a synonym of Paramichrotus NAOMI, 1982, of the genus Hesperosoma SCHEERPELTZ, 1965, is reinstated and revised. Four species are new to science: H. (Hemihespero- soma) brunkei (Laos, Myanmar), H. (Hemihesperosoma) laosense (Laos), H. (Hemihesperosoma) chrisaueri (Thailand), H. (Hemihesperosoma) signaticolle (W-Malaysia). New synonymies: Hespero- soma (Hemihesperosoma HAYASHI, 2002) (= H. (Euhesperosoma HAYASHI, 2002) syn.n.; = H. (Paramichrotus NAOMI, 1982) syn.n.), H. vietnamense ITO, 2011 (= H. yasuhikoi ITO, 2011 syn.n.), H. elegans CAMERON, 1920 (= Amichrotus bryanti CAMERON, 1937 syn.n.), and H. jacobsoni BERNHAUER, 1915 (= Amichrotus picticollis CAMERON, 1937 syn.n.). The aedeagi of all species represented by males are illustrated as well as some representative body details. The habitus of most species and additional body details, which are essential for identification are depicted by color photographs. A key to species of the subgenus Hemihesperosoma and distribution maps are provided.

The Neotropical genus Trigonopselaphus GEMMINGER & HAROLD (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae: Staphylininae) is revised. A new species, T. diplopegus, is described from Ecuador and Peru. A neotype is designated for Staphylinus herculeanus LAPORTE. Lectotypes are designated for Poly- phematiana zikani BERNHAUER, Staphylinus columbinus ERICHSON and Trigonophorus myrtillinus (NORDMANN). Polyphemus melzeri BIERIG is shown to be a junior synonym of Polyphemus banghaasi BERNHAUER and Polyphematiana zikani BERNHAUER a junior synonym of Trigonophorus myrtillinus (NORDMANN). A key and illustrations of morphological characters are provided for the identification of species.

A new species of Bordatius PITTINO & MARIANI, 1986 (Coleoptera: Scarabaeidae: Aphodiinae: Psammodiini) from South Africa is described: B. mthatha. An updated key for all known species is provided and the mouthparts of the genus are discussed in comparison with other Psammodiini and its implications regarding the ecology of the genus.

The Optioservus maculatus species group (Coleoptera: Elmidae) is newly proposed. Ten species, including six new species, are recognized: O. gapyeongensis JUNG, KAMITE & BAE, O. hagai NOMURA, O. inahatai sp.n., O. maculatus NOMURA, O. masakazui sp.n., O. occidens sp.n., O. ogatai sp.n., O. sakaii sp.n., O. variabilis NOMURA and O. yoshitomii sp.n. Larvae of nine species are also described: O. gapyeongensis JUNG, KAMITE & BAE, O. hagai NOMURA, O. maculatus NOMURA, O. masakazui sp.n., O. occidens sp.n., O. ogatai sp.n., O. sakaii sp.n., O. variabilis NOMURA and O. yoshitomii sp.n.

The practice to maintain traditional large genera is advocated. It is recommended to divide them into smaller sub-units (preferentially subgenera) instead of splitting them into many smaller genera. The different subgeneric classifications of four chrysomelid genera (Donacia FABRICIUS, Cryptocephalus GEOFFROY, Chrysolina MOTSCHULSKY, Gonioctena CHEVROLAT) are discussed. As an example the subgeneric classification of the genus Donacia has been studied regarding morphology, host plants and DNA-results. Askevoldia KIPPENBERG, Cyphogaster GOECKE, Donacia s.str., Donaciella REITTER and Pseudodonacia REITTER are re-established as subgenera. Donacocia GISTEL has priority over the name Donaciomima MEDVEDEV. Arundonacia, Brevidonacia, Crasso- donacia, Extradonacia, Flavodonacia, Glabrodonacia, Mergodonacia, Smaragdonia and Sotaiana are proposed as new subgenera.

Three new species of Neotropical longhorn beetles (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae: Lamiinae, Acanthocinini) are described: Anisopodus clitellarius sp.n. (Costa Rica), A. mariettae sp.n. (Bolivia, Peru), and Alcidion puchnerorum sp.n. (Peru).

Two new species of Clytini (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae), Chlorophorus huilaensis sp.n. from Angola, and C. hovorkai from Zimbabwe, are described.
